I have been playing on dedicated with friends for ages and we are looking for a more mature approach to PvP than the dying every 10mins on most public servers.

Read good things about this server so thought we would join. I'm more of a builder, but have a scavenger and a tank (polite way of describing him) in our little band.

We were planning on getting a feel for the server by starting in the north then moving our whole base south.

hey hey.

There is an intermediary stage where you can venture south with the base north. Myself mainly, a few friends included for the team, are basically waiting for A17.

We are the majority when it comes to PvP here and I only say this  because in the past people have come when we were gone or I was gone and got complacent and the day I returned... all hell broke loose cuz they weren't ready.

Maybe you are; it's your choice.  But just make sure you are mentally prepared also because most people who say they are aren't and things go south in a hurry when they are engaged.

There's no need to venture into the south right away.  Enjoy the north.   Map the area ... level up.   Then go south.
If you're going south .... be careful and drop bedrolls frequently.
