Crop thief

Longsword and I "WisenGrim" had all our planted crops stolen at our base yesterday or sometime today before 10pm central time.  We are in the north and were kind of suprised by this.  Really, if they had at least had the decency to replant what they took I would not be terribly bothered and may well not have even noticed.  Irritating.

This usually happens to me everytime I start a new game on the north and leave a beautiful garden in the open. My advice, put a wood fence around it and future problems solved.

Yup.
I have learned this lesson the hard way.
Especially with Potatoes and Coffee....crop thieves love those two crops the most. I always start my garden with a fence around it until i have a pretty substantial stash, then I let the walls down for those who may be in need of a few crops, if they stumble across my garden.

I you find the culprit, that would be nice, but it's not a huge deal for us.  But, it's always best to keep a lid on the unsavory sorts amongst us

i had the same happen to me in the north it was only 8 corn and 10 potatoes but it was all i had and had to scavenge more potatoes and corn the potatoes took a while to find. i had even placed a wood boarder around them to let everyone know it was a player crop it was also very close to my base might have been just outside my lcb i'm not sure but it was easy to tell it was a players crop. So i spent the next few sessions collecting lead and sand to make a fully enclosed greenhouse on top of my base. this was the first time in 3 plus years on the server i have had to take these precautions. i'm happy the server is growing but with the good also come the bad i suppose.

Yeah, seems like we used to get a TON of coffee theft before beer became a thing, but haven't had anyone just come in an take everything.  Frustrating

last i knew crops had to have access to sunlight did they change that or does man made lighting work

You dig a shaft all the way down so the light can get down there.  I think one shaft will allow for a 5 x 5 plot.  Not 100% sure on the size.

A single shaft down provides light for a circle that extends 7 blocks from the center point (shaft)
